What is Brazilian Jiu Jitsu?

Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, often called ‘BJJ‘ is built upon the concept that a smaller, weaker person can successfully defend him/herself against a bigger, stronger, heavier opponent by using leverage.
With a focus on takedowns, wrestling and grappling on the ground, the experienced BJJ practitioner ‘submits’ his opponent with a range of chokes and joint locks.
BJJ is the perfect art to learn for self defence as it is tested in competition and self defence scenarios whilst also offering a training methodology that constantly tests students against other resisting opponents, without the danger of striking.
This makes BJJ perfect for anti bullying and self defence as it relies heavily on control, instead of violent and deadly striking to stop an attacker.
